Caravans vs motorhomes

While motorhomes are often perceived as the ultimate RV experience, the reality is that caravanning has an enormous number of benefits which outweigh the motorhome experience. This is due to a number of key factors.

 

Caravans

  • Saving of $75,000 – $110,000 on a caravan when comparing size, layout and features. 

  • With a caravan, there is no high mileage depreciation. Its value will remain the same no matter how far it has traveled.

  • A caravan has extremely low maintenance costs. There is no oil or filter, no COF and no turbo/gearbox to worry about.

Motorhomes

  • $75,000 – $110,000 more expensive than a caravan with equivalent size, layout and features.

  •  The higher the mileage of a motorhome, the more its value will depreciate.

  • Motorhomes are much more expensive to maintain than caravans. Ongoing costs include COF, engine maintenance and more. There are also more costly registration and insurance fees.
